So what's Craft Day?
A bunch of folks come over in the afternoon (usually
Sundays) and do various crafts projects.
Tova has kept Craft Day alive in the
Boston area - drop her a note if you wanna join the New England craft movement.
Though it took me a while after I moved to Seattle to get Craft Day going
again, there's now a Pacific Northwest edition. It got its start back in Boston,
where I had a house with plenty of craft space, including a full-fledge
wood/metal shop in the garage. These days, there's not quite as much space
(or as many fun tools to muck around with), but Craft Day lives on.

Q&A:
What if I'm not "crafty" like that?
There are plenty of us at Craft Day who aren't as artisticly inclined as others.
In fact, that's the point - to have a place to try something new. Lots of people
have pet projects they've put off forever and Craft Day is a friendly venue in
which to complete them.
What are some projects people have done on craft day?
Well, people have: knit socks, drawn a picture, made holiday cards, organized photographs in an album, made a diorama, painted, made a lamp, created a metal sculpture, etc.
How do I get there?
Get directions here.
Can I bring some food or drinks to share?
Sure, but it's not a requirement - I'll have some for everyone.
What supplies do you have already?
I usually have the following supplies:
- scissors
- tape (masking, clear, duct)
- white glue
- glue gun
- white office paper
- acrylic and watercolor paints (we don't have many canvases to spare but we've got nice white paper)
- paintbrushes
- assorted pens, pencils, pastels, charcoal, etc.
- a drafting table with drafting machine
- knitting needles (for knitting - if you want to use them up in a project, bring your own)
- needle & thread
- a small sampling of scrap wood, metal, fabric and yarn
- various random screws, nuts, bolts and nails
- hand tools (hammer, Xacto knife, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.)
- hand drill with bits
- circular saw
- origami paper
- a number of "How-To" drawing, painting, origami/paper folding, and knitting books
If it's not on the list, chances are I don't have it (or at least if it's a vital part of your project, you should bring it yourself).
Happy crafting.
