I’ve been busy, especially so considering I don’t have a job! The frisbee team jerseys are being sorted out, and we’ll likely have something going before Kleinman. Much appreciation & respect to 5 Ultimate for their patience and generosity.
I’ve really been enjoying Smith lately – they’ve got great food, good beer, you can hear yourself talk even when it’s busy, and it’s just down the street. Try the beets.
Stitch ‘n’ Pitch last night was a hoot. No pictures to share, but I did wear my men knit t-shirt to the game. Off to Kingston for the weekend, then heading out on my Seattle-to-Portland bicycle adventure Monday morning.
The frisbee team’s logo/jersey design has evolved over the weekend, into:
It’s getting there.
Our new frisbee team, Shadrach, is coming together nicely, and we’re all psyched for our debut at Kleinman in a few weeks. In preparation, we’re making jerseys, and I somehow got put in charge of designing the logo. Here’s what I came up with:
I definitely have respect for graphic designers (really designers of any kind) – it’s tough to come up with something out of nothing! I’m happy enough with how this came out (it doesn’t suck, basically), but eventually would love to get better at this kind of thing.
Given my current employment status (that is: not at all), I’m thinking about biking down to Portland for the tourney. I’d like to leave the Monday before, and arrive Thursday mid-day so I have some recovery time before launching into two solid days of ultimate. Any advice on a scenic but not-too-long route? There’s this one which seems to be a modified version of the StP route, but there might be better.
Instead of bringing a digital camera with me on my East Coast trip, I brought the Rolleiflex. Quite a number of the photos turned out well – check ’em out here. I still don’t take quite enough time to make sure the focus is right (especially evident on the color photo of my whole family), but I’m definitely getting better at guessing the exposure (no light meter in the camera, and it’s a hassle to carry one around).
It’ll be a few days ’til I get my pictures from the weekend up, but Dan is speedier than I.
As predicted, unemployment isn’t such a bad thing, though I really do miss my job. I sailed four days out of five last week, picnicked on Lake Washington, biked around town and generally enjoyed Seattle. Over the weekend, I went up to Rock Mountain for a spectacular overnight. It never ceases to amaze me how many great places there are so close to Seattle.
