What's been on my mind lately? Read on...

Jared & Chika got married last weekend!

Guemes Island Wedding

I was happy to participate in the event in several capacities, from food planning (we might have bought a little too much food) to some dance lessons to fashion consulting to saying a few words during the ceremony to emceeing the toasts after dinner, in addition to the normal guestly duties.

I quite enjoyed suit shopping with Jared and Drew, in various combinations, and felt like we all came out looking damn good.

They got the ceremony out of the way on Friday evening (their words, not mine), which left a whole bunch of people the rest of the weekend to spend on Guemes Island in the San Juans. Rough, right? Somehow, we managed to eat, drink, dance, Rock Band, kayak, row, ping pong, walk, frisbee, swim and sauna through. Pictures are up here.

Well, done, J&C — congratulations, and thanks for one heck of a party!

If you’re reading this, it means I did everything more or less correctly, and my website is now hosted through the good graces (and fine system administration) of Decielo, the business face of my good friend Drew. I look forward to canceling my account at Aplus.net and never having to deal with them again.

Everything on the site should be working, so if you come across something broken, please let me know.

Eventually, I will figure out how best to present images to you, just like eventually, I will figure out a permanent web-hosting solution. For the time being, though, PicasaWeb/Google seems to be as good a place as any to put photos (though I’m happy Flickr updated their browsing interface).

Deirdre and Claire’s wedding prompted me to break out the medium format camera, and I discovered an undeveloped roll of film in there from last year. 60 Minute Photo on Capitol Hill does a great job developing film, and will scan photos in for a totally reasonable price as well.

In the living room, on Bainbridge

The roll in the camera was from last fall, the beginning of a very up-and-down 5 or 6 months in my life (and, as it happens, Drew’s as well). No matter the bitter-sweetness of the times, I do love having the photographs, which in retrospect, capture not just moments in time but some feelings as well. They are all posted here.

In contrast, the photographs from the wedding are unequivocably happy and joyous, and will for a long time remind of the great times that was the wedding weekend up near Mt. Baker. Full set is here.

Well, just as photos from Potlatch are coming in, I’m heading out. It seems I spoke too soon in June, and once again, I’m China-bound. It won’t be a long trip, and I have a wedding to look forward to on my return, but I can’t say I’m thrilled to be heading to the land of 90° / 90% humidity weather, or to be leaving Seattle right now.

But this is how it goes, so I’ll save stories for another time, and instead just link to Whit’s fantastic Stunner of the Month, Potlatch 2010 pics.

I was hoping to relay not just stories from Potlatch, but photos as well. I know they’re out there, but folks are busy with summery tasks and haven’t posted them just yet. So I’ll leave you with just this teaser, and note that I don’t know why I wasn’t wearing my gold chains when this photo was taken.
